Todd’s interest in plants and design started years before following this path. It took a few career changes and an additional degree to get him where he is today. Todd’s grandmother, Joy Magruder, was an avid gardener with a wealth of plant knowledge based on years of experience. Most every plant in her yard had a story behind it. When Todd worked in her garden, she would often share those stories with him. Her encouragement and tutelage through the years developed a spark in Todd. A connection to nature that eventually led him to leave a job in the banking industry, and obtain a degree in Environmental Design through the School of Architecture at Auburn University. Nods to his grandmother can be found intermingled throughout Todd’s designs.
Growing up in Mountain Brook and Mobile, he currently resides in Vestavia. He and his wife Kathryn have 2 children. In Todd's spare time he enjoys working in his own yard, running with the family springer spainel (Gracie), reading, writing, traveling and being with friends and family. He is active at his church Saint Stephen's Episcopal Church where he has served on the vestry and preschool board. He has also served on the Episcopal Place Gumbo Gala Committee and Mitchell's Place Junior Council.
